Tallahassee Police Make Arrest in Talla-Villa Apartments Homicide
August 29, 2025
On July 25, at approximately 10:47 p.m., the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to Talla-Villa Apartments in reference to a disturbance. When officers arrived on scene, they located one injured adult male. Life-saving measures were attempted; however, the male died as a result of the injuries he sustained in an altercation and subsequent stabbing.
During the investigation, detectives with TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit determined that the suspect, Landy Hayes, and the victim had been in an ongoing relationship for several months. On the night of this incident, Hayes and the victim engaged in an altercation, which led to the stabbing. Further investigation revealed that Hayes’s statement to detectives was not consistent with physical evidence located on the scene and evidence discovered during the subsequent autopsy.
On Aug. 28, 2025, Hayes was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder.
This arrest is a testament to TPD's ongoing commitment to seeking justice and holding those who harm others accountable. Anyone with information related to criminal activity is encouraged to contact TPD at 850-891-4200 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.
