Adoptable Community Pets & Rehoming Program
The listing below are animals currently in need of homes in our community. This program is a courtesy to Leon County pet owners who have had to make the difficult decision to rehome their pet. These animals are offered for adoption by their owners at no cost as they are looking for a loving, lifelong home. Just a few simple steps and you'll be meeting your new best friend:
- When you see an animal you'd like to adopt, please download and complete the questionnaire (PDF); if you already have an approved questionnaire on file just give us a call! If you have issues submitting, please fill out the form, save it and send the saved PDF to adopt@talgov.com.
- Once an adoption questionnaire has been submitted, an adoption counselor will be in contact with you within 2 business days of receiving your application.
- After approval your questionnaire will be emailed to the animal's current owner. They will be responsible with following up with you to arrange a meeting of the pet so please be patient.

BERI - A206766 I am a spayed female Domestic Shorthair and I am about 8 years old Hello, my name is Beri. I'm a cat in need of a new home because my current family is moving. I mostly enjoy the great outdoors, exploring and lounging in the sun, but I do come inside to eat and occasionally take a nap in a cozy dog bed. While I may not be the cuddliest cat around, I am sweet and enjoy the company of humans from a distance. I hope to find a new family soon who can appreciate my independent nature and give me the love and care I deserve.

GOOD SAM - A207241 I am a neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier mix and I am about 3 years old Hello! I'm Good Sam, and I'm looking for a new home where I can share my love and energy. I had a rough start after being hit by a car, but a wonderful person brought me to a vet clinic where I was treated for road rash. Now, I'm healthy and ready for my next adventure. The amazing folks at the clinic found out a lot about me while I have been here. I'm friendly and playful, housebroken and crate trained. I have a lot of energy and sometimes get so excited to see you that I jump with joy! Despite my enthusiastic nature, I'm a perfect gentleman and can't wait to find a forever home where I can bring happiness and companionship. Could that be with you?

OLIVER - A208387 I am a unaltered male Poodle - Standard and Golden Retriever and I am about 2 years and 5 months old Hi there! I'm Oliver, a loveable, high-energy dog who's looking for a new home. My current family loves me very much, but with the arrival of a new baby, they just can't give me the attention and exercise I need. I'm crate trained and housebroken, and I'm great with kids. I haven't had much experience with cats, though. I must admit, I've been known to escape from the yard when I get too curious, and I can be quite vocal if I'm not getting enough attention. I absolutely adore car rides and meeting new people and other dogs. I'm smart, extremely loving, and obedient, and I promise to be the best companion if you can give me the active lifestyle I thrive on.

CATO - A206622 I am a unaltered male German Shepherd Dog mix and I am about 4 years old Hey there, I'm Cato, and I'm on the hunt for a new home because my current family is relocating to a place that doesn't permit dogs, and they're finding it hard to juggle their busy schedule with caring for me. But hey, no worries - I'm already crate trained and housebroken, so I won't cause any chaos indoors. I absolutely adore car rides; there's something about the wind in my face that makes me feel alive! I'm a total goofball who thrives on human company and has a personality as big as the sky. However, I'm not the best match for a household with small kids as I tend to get pretty nervous around them and I also do not like to share my food. When it comes to other dogs, I might try to establish dominance over them so I should meet them before taking me home. Despite all that, I'm fiercely loyal and ready to shower my new family with love and affection. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a whole lot of personality, I'm your guy!

ELI - A207622 I am a neutered male Basenji mix and I am about 5 years old Hi there, I'm Eli! I was found wandering around after those big tornados, and despite the Good Samaritan who took me in, my owners never came forward. So now, I'm on the hunt for my forever home. I'm crate and housebroken, but I have a knack for escaping from yards, so you'll need to keep an eye on me. I haven't been around cats or kids with my finder, but I do enjoy car rides and have a medium energy level. Chasing squirrels is one of my favorite pastimes, but I also love wrapping myself up in a good blanket. I'm sweet, loving, independent, and most of all, I'm ready to share my big heart with a new family.

SOCKS - A207716 I am a neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier mix and I am about 1 year old Hi there! My name is Socks, and I'm on the lookout for a loving forever home. A kind person found me in early April and brought me to a vet clinic, where I've been staying every since. I'm a medium sized guy at around 40 pounds, and here at the clinic, they've learned a lot about me. I'm housebroken and crate trained, which means I know how to behave indoors. I haven't had the chance to meet any kids or cats yet, so I'm not sure how I'd react to them. Thunderstorms make me a little scared, but I'm friendly and love to be around people. I have lots of energy, so I'll need plenty of exercise to keep me happy. Could you be the one to give me the home I've been dreaming of?

CARRIE - A184438 I am a spayed female Domestic Shorthair and I am about 5 years old Hello there! My name is Carrie, and I'm on the lookout for a new forever home. I'm a friendly kitty who loves to jump into laps, even those of visitors, because everyone deserves a bit of Carrie love. I adore playing with toys and often get the zoomies during playtime, racing around with joy. I'm also an early riser and will gently remind you when it's time for my breakfast, but I promise I'm always polite about it. If you're looking for a loving and energetic feline companion, I'm your girl!

SHEEBA - A208119 I am a spayed female Chow Chow and I am about 7 years old Hey, I'm Sheeba! I've been with my current family since I was just a pup. I've grown up loved and well-cared for, always ready for a car ride or a walk in the park. Due to recent changes in my family's lifestyle, they're finding it difficult to give me the attention I need, so I'm seeking a new loving home where I can thrive. I'm a quirky and independent spirit who appreciates affection—but only on my terms! While I love car rides and walks, I'm also perfectly happy lounging indoors and enjoying some quiet time on my own. I prefer laying on the floor than snuggling up on the couch. Though I’m an independent gal, I do enjoy an occasional belly rub or head scratch when I’m in the mood. My gentle demeanor and calm energy make me a wonderful companion for leisurely strolls and relaxed evening. I’m okay with other dogs, and I enjoy their company during walks or playdates. My preference is for older kids who understand my space and independence. I haven’t had much exposure to cats, so I'm not sure how I'd do around them. If you're looking for a laid-back yet playful companion who will bring joy to your life, I'm your girl. My ideal family would be one that respects my space but appreciates my quirky, lovable personality. Can't wait to meet you!

PEANUT - A205832 I am a neutered male Domestic Shorthair and I am about 1 year old Hi there, I'm Peanut, a spirited little kitten on the lookout for a new home and a forever friend. My journey began in a dumpster before Thanksgiving, but I've got a heart full of curiosity and adventure. Exploring is my specialty, and I'm equally passionate about cuddling up with my favorite human. I have this habit of scratching furniture, but with a bit of of understanding and redirection, I'm sure we can work on that together. Ready to welcome a bundle of joy into your life? That's me- Peanut!
